A Spurs £7m offer for Danny Ings illogical

Who dreamt up this insane story, Tottenham are to offer £7 million ($10.89m - €8.96m) for Danny Ings.

A Spurs £7m offer for Danny Ings illogical

As with any story I don't take it at face value and consider the realities of it and the situation, that way you can easily discount a lot of the rubbish that is written, like this story.

Tottenham need strikers so are going to be linked with every striker under the sun, that we know, we also know when it comes to strikers Tottenham want top quality and proven goalscorers rather than a gamble on a youngster, which would leave us with an inexperienced Kane, an unproven youngster and perhaps and one other.

We are all about buying young, improving a player and his value, just as most clubs are now, before the player moves on. We live in a world where player movement is common so it is essential to keep a club afloat that you don't make a loss on every player, a heavy loss on any player is not to be taken lightly as it affects your business in other areas, with Financial Fair Play clubs do not have a finite amount of money to spend, only what their income can sustain.

Ings himself has said he has no intention of leaving in January and is not interested in offers from Southampton, Leicester City, Everton, Aston Villa and Hull City.

"I'm contracted until the end of the season and that's the way it's going to be. I will fight for the team as much as I can and do my best for them. If an offer comes in, I won't be looking at it."

In each case the figures quoted are around the same mark but as he points out he is a free agent at the end of the season and has no intention of leaving. Daniel Levy is not the sort of man to pay £7 million for a player he can get for free just a few months later, indeed one that he can arrange a free transfer with there and then in January and sign a pre-contract agreement.

The 22-year-old has scored 4 goals in the Premier League in 16 games, 1 against Everton, 2 against Stoke City and 1 against Aston Villa. He hasn't scored in the last 6 games. At the moment he is not the prolific goalscorer the side needs, I can certainly see interest in the summer as in a better side who create more chances he should be able to score more goals, but right now he is better off at Burnley getting regular football to increase his experience at Premier League level.

It's better for Burnley, it's better for Ings, it's better for Tottenham, it's better for our finances and that frees up money to allow strengthening elsewhere instead. Logically the story has very little going for it.
