Argentinian striker ideal for the English game

Tottenham's main target in South America has been Ezequiel Ponce who it seems needs to decide between Serie A and the English Premier League (EPL).

Argentinian striker ideal for the English game

Tottenham's rivals to his signature are Roma, a well worn route for South American players as both countries allow third party ownership, something the Premier League does not. That makes buying him a little more difficult for Spurs and a little more expensive as we'd have to buy them out, thus they would forgo a later pay day if he made it big, as expected.

Ezequiel Ponce

Country: Argentina
Date of birth: 29/03/1997 (17 years old)
Place of birth: Rosario (Argentina)
Height: 1,77m
Club career: Newell’s Old Boys
Squad number: 22
Position: secondary striker, striker
Preferred foot: right
Similar type of player: Gabriel Batistuta
Player’s agent: unknown

Ezequiel Ponce became the youngest Newell's Old Boys player ever when making his debut at just 16, which demonstrates why foreign players develop faster than English players in the Premier League. You develop faster if you play and English players simply don't get mush of a chance.

Although not English, look at a player like Nabil Bentaleb, clearly talented but some supporters simply want to moan he isn't good enough, if one listened to them no player would ever develop.

Ponce didn't just play, he led the line as even at his young age he has the physical presence to do so. He is an excellent finisher and has the same footballing brain as Driussi, he knows how to play off the ball as well as on it with the instinct to be in the right place at the right time.

He still has pace and acceleration but he is also good in the air and he looks an ideal future player for the Premier League. He is excellent with his back to goal and is good in those one-on-one situations all strikers love. He likes to latch on to a diagonal through ball and being powerful is suited to the 4-2-3-1 Pochettino prefers.

Obviously at 17 he is not the finished article but is a raw talent interesting the top clubs around the world. Tottenham have made a move for him with an offer that would allow him to be leaned back for 6 months. Roma have made an offer that allows him to be loaned back for 12 months so Newell's Old Boys favour that and will be speaking with Ponce to try to persuade him to take that option, if he is to leave them that is.
