Spurs turn down Sancho?

Dan Kilpatrick suggests we have changed our minds about Manchester City starlet Jadon Sancho who has refused to return and train with Manchester City after being left out of their USA trip, where they played ourselves.

I read somewhere City playing hardball making him finish his scholarship. He can sign for but unable to play until next season.

Perhaps there is more to this story than meets the eye. it would explain why we have possibly pulled out if we can't play him. However, as a youth player, Manchester City have a duty of care and can not undertake action that would harm his potential career. Brian Marwood gave an interview to this effect a couple of years ago.

When a talent comes along all these good intentions go out of the window do they?

Crystal Palace are being linked with a move for Michel Vorm, the newspaper logic being that he has worked with Frank de Boer before and that Tottenham have bought a third choice keeper so might be willing to let Vorm go, which is nonsense, but what do you expect from journalists.

  1. Exactly... we buy a 3rd keeper because our others are 18 and the next minute we are selling Vorm? Anyone who writes that has less knowledge of football than I do!!
    • We are not selling Vorm, just because a newspaper link another club doesn't mean we have any intention of letting him go or that he wants to go.
  2. As you allude to,i think the first tweet about us not pursuing the transfer doesn't tell the whole story - for a reported compensation fee of around £3m there isn't a club in the country who would turn down the chance to sign him, even if it was just to make a few quid on a future sale.
    • You won't get too many arguing with that assessment.

The kid has been badly advised to go AWOL and not report back to his current employers Man City.They have offered him a contract on approx £30 thousand a week,but he will only break in to the first team when Pep thinks he's better than the current players available.People get exited to see clips of him in youth teams,but it's a lot harder in the premier league against internationals week in week out.
    • It might have been his choice and not his advisers. Everyone is quick to blame advisers but everyone has a brain and can make their own decisions.
      He wants to play football, the wage offered is irrelevant. he is only playing in the Man City Under-18 side not the Under-23 development squad, the first team is a way off yet as you say. Others his age went on the USA tour, he obviously feels he should have done too.
    • I agree, never been a lover of all the flack agents get. The majority of them are likely looking after their clients best interests and as you say, ultimately it's the player that makes the decision.

      As far as Sancho goes, I haven't seen enough to make a judgement, but he looks similar to Marcus Edwards in style. Would be nice to have two young English wingers vying for a place in the coming seasons. But perhaps news of Sancho refusing to train has put off Poch, we know that the one thing he demands is work ethic.
