Pochettino, one of us

Pochettino one of us, the Happy Clappy Crew

Mauricio Pochettino is one of us "happy clappy flat earth" people another website refers to, people who know positivity is an element of success and negativity breeds failure.

The comments on my recent article Misunderstood Levy is refusing offers for Spurs players were from the sensible majority, us happy clappy folk with the best interests of the club at heart, rather like Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino.

As the comment below says, fans do forget where we were when Levy and ENIC arrived. As Levy has pointed out, he is just looking the club and in the future it will be someone else's role and they will have to lave it in good condition for the next individual.

Tottenham is nobody's play thing, it is a sustainable business which is being grown. That is an ongoing exercise, there is no end date, as other clubs build and increase their revenue, we have to build the infastructure to allow us build our income to compete on a more level playing foeld and thus compete on wages.

Wages are the be all and end all of football really, only clubs with the top six wage bill in the world win the UEFA Champions League now and that has been the case for over 10 years. If we want to win it we have to either grow the club to their size or do something amazing that no club has managed for over 10 years.

To get ourselves to that stage would result in Premier League titles as a by-product. Daniel Levy has the vision to take us there, that is the ultimate goal. we have to pick up trophies on the way as we build because that ultimate goal is a way off yet.

Very well put. I think part of the problem is that the period where we were finishing mid table was seen, by a number of fans, as a "blip" rather than the true reflection of our league status that it was. Yes, Levy can be irritating, but under Levy we have improved from mid table to flirting with the top 5, being top 5, being champions league and now genuine contenders. In Levy, we have a genuine fan of the club. We also have world class training facilities, world class stadium on the horizon, good youth policy, a coach with appeal to players, a shrewd chairman with an eye for an opportunity (NFL deal, naming rights etc....), increased revenue from next season... whatever happens this season, the future is bright.

  1. I couldn't agree more , I have been a fan since the age of 7 ? let me calculate? thats 39 years and this is the best period (stability wise) that I can remember .
Yeah we have had good times , but mostly we have been inconsistent and run very badly ,until ENIC took over and Lewis put Levy incharge , and in my eyes , long may it continue . If as stated , new training fac, new stadium , good to great youth setup , and a very driven no nonsense manager(YOUNG) .
I am really excited about our future now , and will try and get to as many games as pos, as I had lost heart before the Poch error , I mean we had 1 gooner as manager before , but to do it again ? I truly hope it don't happen again , as they say the 3rd times the charm , but in this case it would probably be a curse ......................COYS............................
We understand that the issue we have is with the miss management of transfers. Every Spurs fan for the past 6 years can see the need for an additional striker and with Jansen potentially moving on it will become even greater yet we spend the money on Sissoko etc wasted resource. Turning the club into a power house off the pitch is admiral and the fact that we are almost there is even more frustrating. Take the tiny step Mr Levy and watch opinions change!! FYI my choice of a young very talented striker to compete with Kane Josh King the boy has it all!!! #COYS

This is the comment that, for me, helps explain everything. To be a powerhouse on the pitch, you first have to be a powerhouse off the pitch and that is what Daniel Levy is trying to do.

Everything else has to be looked at in that context, we can not put in jeopardy building ourselves into a business powerhouse, the trophies then follow and it is consistent trophies we want, not on there or there.

It is amazing to see the many convoluted twists and turns the Levy haters are spouting to try and justify their erroneous opinions of yesteryear, rather than just fess-up and accept they were wrong 😂
