Spurs make £23.49m bid for defensive midfielder

Spanish newspaper Sport are making claims that Tottenham are trying beat Arsenal and other rivals to 22-year-old (23 in February) Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.

They are claiming today that we have made a bid of £21.49 million (US$34.12m - AUS$43.96m - €30m) for the defensive midfielder.

Arsenal are chasing him, Arsene Wenger is reported to have met him and Daniel Levy is known to have had a meeting with a vice president of his club. The former Sevila player has attracted the interest of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

There are two ways to view this story without having dug into it at this stage, one Giannelli Imbula has decided to join Inter Milan and we been a quality alternative, Kondogbia would certainly fit the bill, or that this is pieced together from a Le10 Sport story saying how much Monaco wanted for the player.

Monaco need to lower their wage bill so clubs are circling their players and there are several on our radar, just as there were several on our radar from Marseille. One thing is for certain Tottenham are in search of a quality defensive midfielder.
