90% chance of Spurs target Imbula leaving

And then there were two seems to be the story for Giannelli Imbula the Marseille defensive midfielder who is high on our shopping list.

Valencia had UEFA Champions League football, a play=off round to get through but a genuine prospect none the less. They were his first choice but the Spanish side signed 21-year-old Rodrigo Ciao from Sao Paulo instead.

Teams from Germany have enquired but with just two weeks left before the French club want to have sold a player to balance the books, there is nothing concrete coming from the Bundesliga. Italian giants AC Milan have been negotiating to try and conclude a deal but they are now reported to have pulled out the race citing that they do not wish to get into a bidding war with Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur.

So it seems it has now boiled down to the San Siro or White Hart Lane for him next season. Giannelli Imbula’s father Willy Ndangi spoke to RMC Sport recently and mentioned there was a club who didn't want him to talk about their interest, that certainly sounds like us.

“There is a 90 percent chance of Imbula leaving Marseille. Things are really getting heated in Italy but we are also waiting for a response from Valencia; there are also other clubs interested, although they want me to shut up about it.
“In fact, it was Marseille who explained to us that Imbula was one of the club’s more in-demand players, and that without Champions League it would help [the club] to bring in money through his sale.”

It is believed that Inter have agreed personal terms with Imbula but can't agree a transfer fee, although they are not that far apart. Marseille are holding out for £14.48 million (US$22.56m - AUS$29.04m - €20m) but Inter refuse to go above £12.90 million (US$20.28m - AUS$26.44m - €18m).
