Experience cost Spurs a Champions League spot
Our home form cost us dear this season (technically it finishes 30 June, same day as contracts).
Clubs like to make their home a fortress, ours was more like a welcoming sofa. promoted clubs base survival on picking up enough home points but we finished a lowly 8th in the home games league table.
We lost 6 home games and picked up almost as many points away as we did at home, 33 at home, 31 away. In the away table we finished 4th, we need to be finishing in fifth place in the home table at least.
Newcastle United 1-2
Manchester City 0-1
Aston Villa 0-1
Stoke City 1-2
Liverpool 0-3
WBA 0-1
If you look at the games we lost, that basically cost us a UEFA Champions League place, only two of them occurred after November when Emmanuel Adebayor, Étienne Capoue, Younès Kaboul and Aaron Lennon were dumped. The four they were a part of were Liverpool (Aug), WBA (Sept), Newcastle United (Oct) and Stoke City (Nov).
Since then, when we brought in more youth we only lost twice, to Manchester City 0-1 when we didn't put the ball in the net when on top and Aston Villa 0-1.
Fans have been suggesting we need to buy experience but it is experience that cost us fourth spot
There was little difference between first-half and second-half performances.
We kept 26% clean sheets at home and 21% away and failed to score in 36% of home games but only 21% of away games. We scored 53% of our goals at home, 47% away and conceded 45% at home, 55% away.
We won 7 home games by 1 goal, 2 home games by 2 and 1 home game by 4 goals. Of the games we lost at home 5 were lost by a single goal and 1 by 3 goals.
In away games we won 7 by 1 goal, 1 by 2 goals and 1 by 3 goals, losing 2 games by 1 goal and 4 by 3 goals.
Of our three main goalscorers Harry Kane scored 9 goals at home and 12 away, Nacer Chadli scored 6 at home and 5 away while Christian Eriksen scored 3 at home and 7 away.
At home we scored 4 equalising goals and conceded 6 equalising goals, away from home we scored 7 equalising goals and conceded 7 equalising goals.
