Man City ITK seems to confirm £3m Sancho to Spurs

The fee for Jadon Sancho is £3 million (€3.26m - AUS$4.86m - US$3.84m) I believe and there is now ITK from Manchester City suggesting he has agreed to join us to back up the same news from our end. When you think of some of the stupid fees being paid, this is a snip.


Building a conveyor belt of talent doesn't happen overnight, it is constant and signing players like Sancho, who is arguably the best in his age group in his position in England, give that a welcome boost. It is a small signal to others that perhaps Tottenham is the place to be, the place to come if you want to get a first team chance.

The philosophy of Mauricio Pochettino is clear, if you are good enough, you are old enough, echoes of Sir Matt Busby and Malcolm Allison.

Ross Barkley wants to come to Spurs because he feels Pochettino can improve his game. Not every player, not every youngster is going to feel the same but one by one we can slowly add to the talent pool.

We want to win trophies this season, of course we do, but the future still has to be continually looked after. You can't have one team end it's life or be dismantled with transfers with nothing to take it's place. The next Harry Kane needs to be unearthed and developed, the next Mousa Dembele, the next Hugo Lloris.

If they develop as we hope, Marcus Edwards on one wing and Jadon Sancho on the other is quite an exciting prospect.

  1. Hopefully, having made the decision to walk out on his prevous contract both he and Spurs will get what they deserve.

    • I suppose he's only doing that cos he feels he has no chance to break through at Man City... looking at their transfer policy it's quite clear that the focus is buying the finished article, not in developing their own home grown players... so how much hope has he have of playing for the first team at Man City?
    • Hahaha ... I can see it from both points of view.

      However, look at it from the kids viewpoint, without being bitter and blue! How disheartening must it be for young English talent at places like City or Chelsea when expensive foreign imports are always bought in at the expense of talented youngsters?

      Clearly his opportunities for advancement at Spurs, under Poch, are much greater than his opportunities at City under Guardiola. That's just a fact.

    • If he's being sold to Spurs then I'm not sure one could describe him as 'walking out on his previous contract'. Not sure what you expect from a young lad, but giving them a contract doesn't mean they have to be beholden to you. It's an agreement. None of us generally knows the terms of that agreement, so unless you have that knowledge you perhaps ought not to pretend that you do.

  2. I hope your right, as City haven't developed a single player from their academy in years. Spurs under Poch have developed many young players into the first team, so what we deserve is more coming through

  4. I find it disappointing that Pep, whom I admire greatly, finds himself in the position of being a ‘Now’ coach and is consequently associated with the likes of Mourinho & Conte.
    I suppose that there is some skill in organising a bunch of expensive, egoistic individuals to communicate with each other for a few seasons but note that Chelsea, for example, have been obliged to employ caretaker coaches to tide them over the ‘ego bumps’.
    I would hate to think that ‘our game’ will continue to degenerate under the influence of the now clubs & their coaches.
