Have we found another one?

A player with talent is a player with talent, a player with talent and mentality is a World Class player, a phrase so overused, there is even a big difference between international class and World Class.

Finding players of the right type mentally is essential to a team success, without mental winners you haven't a hope of winning anything. There are question marks over the mentality of players like Paulinho, Dembele, Lamela, Adebayor, Soldado, Chiriches and Capoue.

New signing Kevin Wimmer we don't know much about, Austrian, 22-year-old with development needed on his game even though he was short-listed for the 2014/15 Bundesliga Team of the Season.

He has the pace out central defenders lack but his first touch can be poor I read, as can his diagonal balls. A diagonal ball for a centre-back is the get out of jail ball, if there is no short pass available then switching the ball to the opposite wing takes most of the opposition out the game temporarily.

Reports I have read suggest he sometimes has an issue with concentration, that he turns off in the same way Kyle Walker does and Eric Dier did on occasions last season. It seems to be a common problem with our defenders. While initially knowing where their man is they concentrate on the ball and forget to check where the player is they are marking. We have conceded many goals where an opponent drifts round the back of a defender and he is then in no-mans land and helpless to prevent an easy goal.

Harry Kane has shown that the right mental approach takes you places, so does Kevin Wimmer have that vital ingredient? His new Twitter profile gives a small indication that he may have, too early to say, but the signs are encouraging.
