5 pieces of transfer news affecting Spurs

A quick round-up of five pieces of transfer news that may have implications for Spurs.

We may be about to lose out on Morgan Schneiderlin as word from Germany is that Bastian Scheweinsteiger is likely to stay at Bayern Munich. He is believed to be Louis van Gaal's preferred choice with Morgan Schneiderlin as a fall back option. If the German international is to stay in Germany you would expect the Southampton midfield man to opt for Old Trafford and UEFA Champions League football.

Tottenham have tried to fend off the interest of Inter Milan in 22-year-old (23 in September) Marseille defensive midfielder Giannelli Imbula by having talks with his father, who is also his agent. Inter have agreed a fee with the French club but there are conflicting reports over whether he has agreed personal terms with the Italians or not. Perhaps news in agent circles of Scheweinsteiger staying in Germany has prompted further discussions with Imbula and Rabiot. there is another Italian club who have now made enquiries for Imbula, Rafael Benítez former club Napoli.

AS Monaco have signed Estudiantes striker Guido Carrillo. The arrival of the 24-year-old Argentinian could mean an exit for Tottenham target 19-year-old (20 in December) French striker Anthony Martial.

With a takeover underway at Aston Villa buying and selling is a bit difficult. Striker Christian Benteke is looking increasingly likely to stay at the club, not good news if we want to offload Emmanuel Adebayor to them this summer, whether permanently or on loan for a season. Given that he wants to be guaranteed first choice striker he was never a realistic option for us anyway, if the paper stories were even genuine.

Inter Milan are in talks with Chelsea over signing Mohamad Salah, the 23-year-old (24 in June) winger targeted by Tottenham. Chelsea have no desire to sell to us even though Salah is thought to want the move. Fiorentina has a year loan option they want to invoke which has a buy clause at the end but Salah has a right of veto and hasn't agreed to go back to Italy yet. Sevilla are also in the hunt for him and the Turkish press report interest from their as well. News of Inter talks only adds to his growing list of suitors.

Well that's your five but I'll throw in that a player we have scouted and been linked with, 19-year-old Belgian winger Zakaria Bakkali will probably be joining Valencia. Super agent Jorge Mendes is a friend of Peter Lim, the owner of Valencia and it seems is helping him rebuild the squad. They have made several signings already.
