Sanchez, Foyth and Wimmer

TRANSFER TALK

The signing of 21-year-old (22 next June) Davinson Sanchez rather shows that the press haven't a clue who Spurs are targetting and who our top priorities are.

The ITK, which has largely dried up from the club (was a major clampdown with the threat of dismissal for staff caught leaking it), was that we were still after the same targets as we were at the beginning of the window, which suggests they have been waiting on other offers or their prices are currently too high.

Here are a few bits and pieces.

The papers seem to be reporting that we have gone back in for Ryan Sessegnon but we won't be signing him this summer, we are looking at him for next summer though and he knows that. A further year playing regularly for Fulham in the Championship will do him the power of good.

Juan Foyth, it is reported in Argentina (El Dia), is flying to London on Tuesday to finalise the details of a deal and sign for us. El Dia seem to have had this story correct all the way through and reported earlier he didn't want to go to PSG after the two clubs had agreed a fee and all and sundry assumed that meant Spurs had missed out.

Why do so many journalists and fans not take into account a players wishes? The fans, obviously, because they believe what they read in the papers, despite claiming to the contrary.

El Dia suggest, there have been several clubs after 19-year-old (20 next January) Foyth and that the total fee including all the performance related add-ons totals is £11.86 million (13m - AUS$

Kevin Wimmer wants to play football, he has made no secret of that and he is the one wanting to lave rather than the club pushing him out. Pochettino likes him and has stated he would be a regular in a couple of years, Wimmer wants to be a regular somewhere now. It is World Cup year and that only encourages him to seek regular football elsewhere.

The deal with WBA seems close and the profit on him handsome. Like it or not, that is part and parcel of football and that goes into the equation when we are seeking players. You can't keep them all and he isn't going to displace Vertonghen and Alderweireld, or Dier as we look to be a side playing with a back three regularly now.

He has to ask himself would he be behind Davinson Sanchez now or is Sanchez his replacement. That would seem likely, we have a player in to replace him so need not prevent his release any more.
