Adrien Silva speculation sounds wide of the mark

TRANSFER TALK

Portuguese newspaper A Bola have reported that Tottenham remain committed to securing the services of 28-year-old (29 next March) Adrien Silva.

Reports from Portugal are always to be taken with a pinch of salt and they go on to say that we will need to bid £26.22 million (€30m - AUS$44.13m - US$33.45m) which Leicester City bid last summer. That sounds as if the paper is hoping for a bid rather than an actual bid being imminent and rather suggests they know little of our transfer strategy.

However we have to ask ourselves if he is 'special' as our strategy this summer is not to buy players of a similar age as Moussa Sissoko. Silva has travelled to Russia for the Confederations Cup which is used as a trial run for World Cups the following year.

It would seem to be speculative to me, Leicester City are reported to be interested in reviving their interest, that sounds a more likely destination.
