Lamela removed from the first team squad

TRANSFER TALK
As ever with Mauricio Pochettino, a disruptive influence or a player whose negativity is not wanted in the positive first team environment or someone who is going to leave the club and thus be of no benefit to our future, is removed from the group and trains on their own.
This has happened to Erik Lamela and indicates that his time at Tottenham is up.Far too many people have made excuses for the show pony. He gave us one season and was pining for Italy for the remainder of the time basically.
It doesn't take two years to get over an injury and a hip injury doesn't last a season. A lot of rubbish has been written about depression but let's be clear he hasn't been suffering from depression, he is just mentally weak and wants the easier life in Italy with easier football.
Over here you get less time on the ball and for a season looked as though he was coming to terms with the Premier League, but it was a constant battle. Mentally it wears you down when you are out of your comfort zone and Lamela was definitely out of his comfort zone in England.
I have said it time and time again, talent is not enough, you have to have the mental side of the game and we have to focus on that BEFORE we buy a player. That is best done with trained professionals, not a scout. It is an element we need to add to our purchasing decision and we need to become world leaders at it, then we will stop making so many mistakes.

You don't rate him, that's fine, but at least get the reasons right.
No-one knows what the lad is going through.
COYS
All the talk of mental strength is one part speculation and one part ill-conceived prejudice. None of us know just how much, or how strong, his mental strength is. I can say, however, and this is something I saw, y'know, by watching games, is that in the final third of last season Lamela was the one who publicly stated that we could win the league, and acted and performed like he believed it. He was the one who continued producing - perhaps you need to go back and watch the last ten matches again.
The only thing that was obvious in the first season, other than that he was a young man in a new environment who, like many others in similar situations, needed time, was that he had a back injury - but let's just ignore that, eh!
Not simple, just able to read stats - y'know, the ones that show his offensive contribution is naturally increasing with maturity and experience. Perhaps you should make yoursel…
I am sure you know Erik personally and can therefore make a judgement that he is in fact not depressed but mentally weak... what utter tosh!!
There may have been a fall out and a break down in relations. We dont know the full facts yet but he was a warrior on the pitch.

Fact: He's been allowed time-off to recover from the death of his bulldog, to return to Argentina to respond to a family issue and a sojourn in Italy to aid his recuperation.
Fact: A scan of his hip has been unable to confirm a prognosis.
Fact: He's still not training with first team for whatever reason.
Fact: THFC have delayed the renegotiation of his contract until the summer.
This is not a question of 'pulling a player apart'.
It is a question of examining the facts and reaching a conclusion which Clive (I presume) has done and is entitled to do so.
My own view at this time is that Lamela wants to return to Italy and is trying to force the issue.
I will be happy to change that view if or when fresh facts appear.
COYS!
Suffice it to say that hip replacement surgery takes 3 to 6 months to recuperate from.
Are you suggesting that Lamela arrived with this hip problem?
You use the word 'chronic' which would indicate this...
Here is a link to Mousa’s injury history:

Just 35 days & 8 games missed for a hip injury!!!!

and clicking on the stats sections for the appropriate seasons.
I rest my case bloggers.
If he does then he arrived at WHL with said 'chronic injury'.
Part of the problem is that Erik and THFC seem reticent in throwing further light on this issue, which, of course, only serves to 'feed the flames'.
whoever put this together ......?.....spurs are a professional club and lamela surely wants to return....? he has worked hard in the team when he was fit.........to suggest otherwise is a lie
What we want to know is when will Erik play for THFC again.
Lamela was our hardest working player on the pitch by a mile for at least 18 months leading up to his injury. He looked hungry, motivated and proved his doubters wrong that he was soft and didn't have the mentality for the English game. The best part was that his phenomenal work rate didn't take anything away from his skill on the ball.
We haven't missed him recently since Eriksen has been playing extraordinarily well lately. We still need him back in the long term though since he's better than Son and has that extra bit of quality needed to open up defenses, especially when we play against big teams.
