MacKenzie scouting 5 games in 3 countries in 4 days

Rob MacKenzie, Head of Player ID at Tottenham, has been busy scouting ahead of the January transfer window.

Great feeling to be a part of a club that has such a significant contribution to the national team across all ages

A busy 4 days ahead with 5 games in 3 countries but vital to compare live observations in varying scenarios to position specific profiling

Tottenham had 17 players involved with England during the international break, a not insignificant number. It would be interesting to know how many players each club supplied and historical figures as well. Not statistics I have at my fingertips.

Rob's tweets show we have identified areas we want to improve and have a list of targets. They will have been identified with the use of statistics and video evidence before we send scouts and Rob himself to see them play over an extended period live.

Who he was watching I don't know, but I'd be surprised if he wasn't in Belgium at some point as we are very active there at the moment.

Sometimes the biggest challenges can yield the most rewarding outcomes...if only you take a leap of faith

This tweet seems to embrace exactly the points I have been making, players in their comfort zone are not giving their best. I note the exploring new things point on the right and happiness. All these points are fine for staff, but they must be applied to players as well and that is where specialist help comes in.

We should always be looking to push the boundaries of coaching, we shouldn't be a club that just follows the norm or simply does the same as everyone else. We should be at the forefront of pushing coaching boundaries.
