Done Deal is the word on Dele Alli

When everyone was writing Dele Alli had signed for Newcastle United I ran a story revealing that he was going to come to Spurs, not Newcastle, not Aston Villa, not Liverpool, nor Bayern Munich.

Done Deal is the word on Dele Alli

The fact that German giants Bayern Munich wanted him tells you all you need to know about his ability but the 18-year-old didn't want to move to far away from home. Now the press have caught up with the story they are reporting that he has a medical  booked with Spurs later today with a fee yet to be agreed, indeed it is believed to be a deal completed early this morning.

That is not expected to be a problem, Newcastle had agreed £5 million for the 12 goal 6 ft 2 in (1.80m) midfielder. He was reported s by the BBC in September as having the makings of the next Steven Gerrard and that would suit us a treat. Mauricio Pochettino saw him play against Manchester United and was impressed, he thought he would turn into quite some footballer so has pressed the club to sign him this window.

He has a superb first touch which gives him time, the time others don't seem to have. He is an excellent passer of the ball and is a good tackler as well, important as he plays at the base of the MK Dons midfield. The fact he has scored 12 goals tells you he can read a game and knows when to time his runs from midfield, that is a precious commodity.

He has won the Football League's Young Player of the Month Award last season and has to be in line to win Young Player of the Year for League One this season if not League One Player of the Year. He'll still need developing but with Nabil Bentaleb at just 20 Spurs would have two youngsters capable of holding the midfield for years to come.
