Paulinho wants away from Spurs

Paulinho has been a big let down at Tottenham, surprisingly lacking composure in front of goal, he should have scored far more goals than he actually did in his first season.

Paulinho wants away from Spurs

Following a typical Charlie Adams tackle on a Tottenham player, one that left them on the sidelines for a number of weeks, he was not the same player. The remainder of the season he spent passing sideways and staying out of trouble as if he was waiting for the World Cup in his home country to arrive and not wanting to get injured before it did. The result was that he was dropped and only recalled late in the season.

This season he has been an unmitigated disaster, strolling around and not even trying to play a high energy high press game, despite being tried in a variety of positions to spark anything from him.

"A player always wants to play, everyone can see I'm just not playing at Tottenham.
"Maybe it's time to think about the possibility of moving on. There is interest from Brazilian and European clubs, but nothing official."

He joins the list of failed Tottenham purchases, a long list which rather suggests our recruitment process is archaic and not thorough enough for today's game that demands instant success. It is imperative in such a climate that you buy players with a winning mentality, not players who say they are too lazy to learn English. If you are lazy in one area of life it will mean you are lazy in other areas. I reported that at the time he made those remarks and this season we have seen the evidence.

It is unlikely he would return to Brazil, there simply isn't enough money in football there to afford him. Clubs like Cruzerio and Corinthians would be looking at loan deals unless they can sell a star player to finance the move. Tottenham wouldn't be interested in a loan move with plenty of clubs in Europe interested in his services.
