Spurs to step up pursuit of Dier
There are suggestions starting to emerge that Barcelona have made a bid for Jan Vertonghen but I have to say I haven't been able to get any confirmation of that from Spain, merely their interest as one of the options.
A player this site has kept an aye on as a potential purchase is Eric Dier and several articles have been penned about him or the difference in training in Portugal to England, or Southern Europe to Northern Europe. We are seeking a young centre-back.
John Stones (Everton) is 20, Jamaal Lascelles (Notts Forest) is 20, Eric Dier (Sporting) is 20, Matthias Ginter (SC Freiburg) is 20, Stefan Savić (Fiorentina) is 23.

If Barcelona have bid for Vertonghen and if they are going to go after him now then we'll definitely be needing an experienced centre-back. Younès Kaboul hasn't shown recovery of form since his injury, Chiriches hasn't shown himself to be good enough yet and Michael Dawson is only waiting on a pay-off agreement to leave. If Vertonghen goes then the cupboard is pretty bare.
It needs stocking before winter.
