Pereira to replace Walker, press let down Levy

TRANSFER TALK

According to French daily newspaper L’Equipe, Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer for 27-year-old (28 next July) former Manchester United right-back Rafael Da Silva. Olympique Lyonnais are said to have immediately rejected the bid.

Back on 14 June I wrote about the guy I felt was our ideal replacement for Kyle Walker and from what I have heard, he is our number one choice. Ricardo Pereira is on the books of Porto but was playing for French side Nice last season. I believe we will be buying the 23-year-old (24 in October) whose contract ends in 2019 and the Portuguese international should therefore be available for less than his reported £22.03 million (€25m - AUS$36.86m - US$28.5m) release fee.

Tottenham are also reported to be interested in 19-year-old (20 in August) Spanish Under-19 (he has 10 caps) central midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop, who is under contract with the LaLiga club until 2021.

ITK today from Spurs Community member The Goat about Daniel Levy advising the press over Eric Dier.

The Goat hears that 'Daniel Levy briefed the media at least a month ago that Dier wouldn't be sold and asked that no stories to the contrary be printed as spurs wouldn't be selling and the stories would be false.'

If that ITK is true then it demonstrates that the press simply can't be trusted, nor trusted to report the truth.
