Links to £21.21m striker

TRANSFER TALK

The striking department is one we haven't quite sorted yet, even though we have hit 100 goals this season. It seems to be the modern trend for teams playing one up front to have the one major striker, Chelsea have Costa, Manchester United have Ibrahimovich for example. The back-up strikers are not of the same quality. We have the same at Spurs.

We are being linked with plenty and of course as far as the press and those websites that blindly follow what they say are concerned, we are about to buy them all. Football clubs watch players, we watch players, it doesn't mean we are about to bid or buy.

The latest, for some, on our watch list is 19-year-old (20 in October) Danish striker Kasper Dolberg who plays at Dutch side Ajax. Why is he suddenly in the news, what has sparked the latest stories, undoubtedly the fact that he scored in the UEFA Europa League semu-final demolition of Lyon a couple of days ago.

He was named 2016 Talent of the Year in Denmark thanks to being strong, fast, skillful, and an excellent finisher in the box. We watched him during the last international break and regularly visit Belgium, Holland and France to assess prospects, Rob Mackenzie used to spend every weekend there it seems.

We have been tracking Dolberg for a while.

Article: Spurs keeping an eye on Ajax striker Dolberg

He became the youngest Ajax player to score a hat-trick in the Dutch league since a certain Rafael van der Vaart so came to everyone's attention. He was 19 years and 45 days old.

Barcelona, AC Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Bayern Munich,Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Everton have all been linked with the Adidas wearing striker who is under contract until 2021.

In the Eredivisie, he has bagged 14 goals in 2,049 minutes of football over 27 games. That is a goal every 146 minutes, he has also weighed in with 6 assists. That is a goal impact time of 102 minutes.

In the UEFA Europa League he has scored 5 goals in 781 minutes of football over 11 games. That is a goal every 156 minutes, he has also weighed in with 1 assist. That is a goal impact time of 130 minutes.

In the UEFA Champions League (qualification) he has scored 1 goals in 193 minutes of football over 4 games. That is a goal every 193 minutes, he has also weighed in with 1 assist. That is a goal impact time of 97 minutes.

According to Sport Mediaset, AC Milan are willing to pay £21.21 million (€25m - AUS$37.12m - US$27.44m).

That sounds more likely than the TMW claim that he could be available for around £12.73 million (€15m - AUS$22.27m - US$16.46m).

If ever you needed proof the media have no idea how much a club wants for a player and make up figures the gullible lap up there you have it.

AC Milan with new Chinese owners backed by Sports Investment Lux, the group behind Sino-Europe Sports, are said to have an £89.84 million (€100m - AUS$143.44m - US$109.71m) this summer.

As Dolberg thinks, according to his recent remarks, a club like Manchester United is too big at this stage of his career, Italy might be his next destination.
