Munir rejects Spurs

TRANSFER TALK

Tottenham frequently it seems, talk to Barcelona about possible transfer and nothing ever comes of it. We simply do not entertain buyback clauses that mean we develop players for another clubs benefit.

The latest in this line of non transfers is 20-year-old (21 in September) Spanish forward Munir El Haddadi. There has been talk since we were first mentioned that he wants to go on loan to Celta Vigo to develop his game, especially given they have UEFA Europa League football. Barcelona consider continental football an important part of developing a player.

Group G: Ajax (NED), Standard Liège (BEL), Celta Vigo (ESP), Panathinaikos (GRE)
That seems to be what is now going to happen as he has turned down the chance to move to several clubs in the Premier League including Tottenham. Barcelona wanted to sell him or send him to Valencia as part of a deal for striker Paco Alcacer, but he rejected that opportunity.

A loan to Celta Vigo is not the first option for Barcelona, yet it seems the one Munir seems determined to push them into. Barcelona want Alcacer to take over the fourth striker duties from Munir, however that £25.63-million (€30m - AUS$44.37m - US$33.54m) deal is yet to be concluded. Barcelona are attepting to convince Munir to go to Valencia on loan with a purchase option with Valencia insisting he must be a part of any deal.

Tottenham is looking a more distant option with each new piece of news.
