Spurs scouting Centre-back

Spurs scouting Centre-back

The deal to see Federico Fazio is expected to be completed although Stoke City have thrown their hat in the ring with a reputed £5.3-million offer. We would rather a sale than a loan so it will no doubt appeal to us, Sevilla is all that appeals to Fazio however.

Milos Veljkovic is having a medical with Wolfsburg on Monday ahead of a move so we are looking for young centre-backs who we feel can develop into Premier League players in the not too distant future.

As part of the at search we have sent scouts to watch 20-year-old (21 in June) Nancy centre-back CLÉMENT LENGLET

have been watching CB Clement Lenglet again, would be a great signing for many clubs

Who is he? Well, the article below will give you some background on him.

"Lenglet started his footballing journey with AMS Montchevreuil and then US Chantilly in his native Oise before joining Nancy in the summer of 2010. His move to Nancy earned him almost immediate international recognition as he gained his first youth international cap for Les Bleus in October of that year, representing the U16 side in a friendly against the Netherlands. Lenglet has gone on to represent France at every youth level, accumulating 33 youth international caps in total."

He has a contract until 2018 and is playing in Ligue 2 at the moment. His statistics can be found at transfermarkt

His coach Pablo Correa spoke of him in the summer of 2015 in good terms and the French youngster seems to have the type of attitude we are looking for.

"Lenglet is hyper impressive. He is discreet, but is a very hard worker. He never lets anything, is always thorough, always puts his best foot forward in training, never misses a session.

"When the attackers want to work in front of goal, he is always the first to want to stay and work more to progress again, despite the qualities already shown to the public. He always manages to get out of complicated situations. He never panics and always a very clean recovery of the ball."

Stoke City have been holding talks with Porto over signing a player we were heavily linked with in the summer Giannelli Imbula and the Portuguese club are also looking towards Lenglet. They had hoped to use the money from an Imbula sale put Stoke City have pulled the plug, no doubt over the £15.3-million expected by Porto plus £3.8-million add-ons, in total £19.1-million, they paid £14-million for him in the summer.

Sevilla are also tracking him, they offered £343,845 (450,000 EUR) in 2014, trying to tempt him with a three-year-contract but were unsuccessful, Juventus have also been tracking him, as the above article shows.

Chelsea were reportedly going to offer him a contract in the summer but changing their minds and Everton have sent scouts to watch him. In Europe he is not an unknown, he is clearly a highly regarded prospect, just the sort we are scouring the globe for, not just the lower leagues.

"One is not born winner, but becomes one."

Who says so? Clement Lenglet did on his Twitter profile. Sounds like my kind of guy. The fee we may have to fork out for him is between £2.67-million to £3.1-million, at least, that is what Nancy are believed to be looking for in the summer. Right now they want him to continue their promotion push, currently they sit top of Ligue 2. With promotion, they will no doubt want to keep hold of him in the summer too.
