WBA statement on Berahino

Thiery Henry talks a lot of sense unlike other former players who simply trot out the line that if a club want a player they should pay what the selling club ask for.

That, of course, is no way to run a football club, these players have never run anything and I bet if they ran a company the wouldn't buy stock at an expensive price but try and negotiate a deal at a price they wanted to pay. Jamie Redknapp talks nonsense, he said Tottenham should stump up more than Berahino is worth then he says they should pay Adebayor a lump sum, he has no idea about balance sheets, but is just a clueless spend, spend, spend man. Spurs fans complain he talks rubbish, yet I bet those same people are agreeing with him now.

Thiery Henry on the other hand, discusses transfers and tells us about what can happen to prevent it, is it the right player, does the player want to come, is it the right price, not pay whatever. Berahino has not performed as a £25-million player, he has the potential to and that is the key, the potential. You do not pay up front for potential, you pay for that in add-ons, fans just hear a full fee, but that is only half the story.

Sad how i cant say exactly how the club has treated me but i can officially say i will never play Jeremy Peace.

Berahino is not the first WBA player to have an issue with the chairman and if I were a youngster I'd have second thoughts about going there are getting stuck. The chairman simply refused to discuss any deal nd claims the first time he spoke to Levy was in mid August, yet the reports from the reporter outside White Hart Lane said discussions had been going on for 4 months. Two different stories for two different sets of fans.

“We have a key player who has been very unsettled by antics which were designed to get him out of our club cheaply.
"Those tactics have continued despite my making our position clear in my first conversation with Daniel Levy on this subject in mid-August. I said selling Saido so late in the window was not on our agenda.
“Tottenham’s offers failed substantially to reflect Saido’s true value while the timing made no allowance for our own recruitment of a suitable replacement for a proven Premier League goalscorer.
“Saido has been unsettled to the point where our Head Coach has not felt able to select him for our last three games. We are now left with the task of repairing the damage created by this unfortunate episode.”

I'm always amazed that more players don't do what Berahino has done and publicly refuse to play again for a club. I don't encourage it in any way, nor simply hoofing the ball into the stands when you get it, just surprised a little we don't see more of it.
