Dutch clubs want Spurs youngster

Under-21 football is sterile, at times it can look like a non-contact sport so while a youngster develops their skills it is totally alien from match conditions.

Players have to go out on loans to learn to fight for a place in a team, some can handle it, some have to deal with a failure to force their way through. Ryan Fredericks has left the club and signed for Bristol City after his spell at Middlesbrough last season, Grant Hall suffered at Birmingham and has not pushed on at Spurs, he is on trial at QPR.

Tom Carroll had the opportunity to join Ajax on loan when Christian Eriksen arrived. He decided not to go, his career stalled at QPR and he is only now getting back on track. I have long suggested that this is exactly what some of our youngsters need and that we should organise a tie-up with a Dutch or Belgian club.

AZ Alkmaar, Roda JC and Feyenoord have all expressed an interest in taking 19-year-old (20 next March) Nathan Oduwa on loan for the season according to Sky Sports. He is also wanted by Coventry city boss Tony Mowbray so there are options. Oduwa has recovered after being knocked unconscious in the game against Stevenage recently and looks set for a loan spell next.
