Spurs watched Ajax youngster, 3 goals in 4 games

Over the last few of days I have brought you news of Tottenham Hotspur scouting trips and who the scouting circle know us to be watching.

There has been 19-year-old Chelsea loanee Bertrand Traoré at Vitesse, 23-year-old German striker Mark Uth at Heerenveen, 21-year-old long term target Jean-Paul Boëtius at Feyenoord, 17-year-old Norwegian midfielder Kristoffer Ajer from IK Start, 19-year-old USA winger Julian Green at Bayern Munich, 23-year-old Dutch winger Ola John at Benfica, 19-year-old Belgian winger Zakaria Bakkali at PSV Eindhoven and 24-year-old Spanish winger Isaac Cuenca from Deportivo de La Coruña and formerly Barcelona.

In Holland again we can add to that list 21-year-old (he is 21 today) Danish winger Viktor Fischer who plays for Ajax. We bought 28-year-old Belgian Jan Vertonghen for £11 million (US$16.8m - AUS$22.01m - €14.99m) in 2012 and 23-year-old Dane Christian Eriksen in Aug 2013 for £11.88 million (US$18.15m - AUS$23.77m - €16.19m) from Ajax so we are no strangers at their games.

We also scouted 26-year-old Toby Alderweireld when he was there with Jan Vertonghen, a player we are still interested in and Luis Suárez, now 26, but Harry Redknapp decided against buying him.

On Sunday 10 May Ajax beat Cambuur 3-0 and we were at the game scouting Viktor Fischer, who scored two goals. It is not thought in scouting circles that an offer is in the pipeline but we will continue to monitor his progress.

Frank de Boer's side failed to hang on to the Eredivisie crown to PSC Eindhoven by 17 points and were lacklustre in the first half. After the break Fischer tapped in from close range on 57 minutes and fired in a second just 5 minutes later.

Right footed, he plays on the left wing and has a contract with Ajax until 2017. He missed the whole of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League campaigns with a thigh muscle injury. His season didn't start until March so he only managed 4 second team games and 4 games with the first team, none of which lasted more than 69 minutes. Fischer still netted 3 goals in that time and 1 for the second XI.
