"'Success is built on daily successes"

I though I'd draw on the words of a coach of a successful side for you to show how the winning mentality I have talked about, a mentality that means improving every day, is the lifeblood for coaches and thus vitally important in a player.

“What breads success is working every day, respect a method, manage and live the job. Success is built on daily successes, and that means doing better with each passing day – and that goes for the players and me, and all the staff that surrounds us."

They are not my words but the words of Porto FC manager/coach, Julen Lopetegui, to his clubs official website talking about talking about needing a winning mentality. In another pre-game press conference the Spanish coach gave further telling insights.

“We don’t need someone else’s defeat to know what our objective is; our energy and motivation have to come from the inside.
"The biggest motivation we have is to do our job. What matters is getting the three points in each match and do the maths in the end.
"One of the aspects of being a coach is that you have to accept that, when things go smoothly, it’s because of the players, and when things go sower, the coach has to take the blame. There are players who are growing and keep working with passion, motivation and hunger for victories. That’s what drives them and makes us all grow as a team, especially considering that, if we are winning, we will reach our goals in the several competitions.”

He reveals exactly what I have been saying the club have to improve in every single area constantly, that's staff, coaches, players, everyone, off the field and on the field. Only filling the club with those type of people and especially players will we have the success we want. This is the philosophy of successful teams in leagues in other countries, an approach that must be copied by Tottenham in England.

Fortunately that is Mauricio Pochettino's philosophy as well, part of the reason Daniel Levy hired him. Hugo Lloris views football in the same way too, time for all our fans to.
