Adebayor has no problem with Pochettino

Emmanuel Adebayor has insisted he has no issues with Mauricio Pochettino and has even praised his man management.

Adebayor has no problem with Pochettino

After the Stoke City fixture in November there was a confrontation between Harry Kane and Emmanuel Adebayor that drew in both senior and younger players. Such was the problem that Mauricio Pochettino had to be brought in to intervene and that resulted in him agreeing with the younger players.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out the argument was about a lack of effort and not following Pochettino's high-pressing style. The statistics backed up Kane and the rumours are that Younis Kaboul and Etienne Capoue then apologised to the young striker but Emmanuel Adebayor didn't. This weekends substitute appearance was his first since then and the performances since that day have dramatically improved. There is far more energy and movement in the side now.

Mauricio Pochettino as head coach knows nobody is going to buy Ade so knows he has to work with him, naturally then he makes encouraging noises in public and Adebayor has told the press he respects Pochettino because he can talk to him over problems with him as an adult.

"We have a very good relationship between men because I am an adult and he knows what I have been through. He knows what I can achieve and what I can do as a footballer so, yeah, we have a mutual respect for each other.
"It is always good to have a manager that you can talk to as a friend and as a brother. He helped me a lot. When I have got a problem, I will definitely go to him and tell him `listen, this is my situation`.
"He always finds a solution to it, so it is always good to have a man manager like him."

In an ill judged outburst Adebayor had a go at the Spurs fans at White Hart Lane so it was unsurprising that his return was greeted with clearly audible boos. We know from comments made in Italy that he will refuse to take a pay cut and wants a pay rise to move so won't be going anywhere.

He is now in the position of having to win over the fans as currently third choice striker. That is going to involve not just effort, but the right effort. There is no point just running around to look good the energy must have a purpose and it must fit within the team structure.

It will take more than a few words to win over the fans although strangely Adebayor says he is not here to win any fans back, hardly what fans want to hear.
