Spurs to bid for a right-back

Winter transfer window time will shortly be upon us so new Head of Recruitment Paul Mitchell is a busy man at the moment, given that he has come to a club that needs a playing staff overhaul. That puts him under a lot of pressure

In addition Spurs have been watching a 22-year-old Croatian right-back who it is reported elsewhere is a centre-back, Sime Vrsaljko. He has played 12 Serie A games as a right-back and in a couple of cases as a right midfield player.

Spurs to bid for right-back Sime Vrsaljko
Born/Age: 10.01.1992 (22)
Nat. Croatia
Current club: US Sassuolo
Contract until: 30.06.2019
Position: Right-Back
Market value: 6,60 Mill. £

He is under contract with Italian side Sassuoio until 2019. Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web report that Juventus are also interested in a summer move but that we will are looking to make a £4 million bid.

With Kyle Walker just returning from injury and DeAndre Yedlin arriving, presumably next month, it seems strange that we are looking at a right-back. In his first game back Walker showed us what we had been missing against Swnasea, despite being rusty.

Arsenal were watching him last season when he was with Genoa and were watching him prior to that at Dinamo Zagreb. He is on the radar of all the top clubs as he has versatility to be able to also cover left-back, but it's difficult to see that he would add any balance to the Spurs squad.
