Transfer Talk is starting in the papers again

It lasted three weeks but now the transfer speculation is starting to build once more, even though the winter transfer window is 3 months away. Time flies in football.

Transfer Talk is starting in the papers again

We know Aaron Lennon has that time to prove himself but speculation has begun about the future of Belgian international Mousa Dembele who blows hot and cold depending on whether he is motivated for a particular game or not. Everton are said to be tracking him again after making an inquiry during the summer.

Rumours continue to around Roberto Soldado with Inter still said to be interested, but at nowhere near the price we paid for him so that looks a total non starter. The Evening Standard suggest Atletico Madrid remain interested although their supporters of course do not. They had a poll because a perceived Soldado insult aimed at their club and he is a hated figure there. A move therefore again looks unlikely, especially as they would want him cheap also.

If we want to sell Soldado we have to get him scoring goals, it's as simple as that, it's the only way his value to return to somewhere near it's former level.

On the purchasing hunt we are keeping tabs on a former target, Mohamed Salah. Chelsea bought him for £11 million in January from FC Basel after he had helped his side tear us apart at The Lane. We were heavily linked with him but he moved to Chelsea where his career is going backwards, he has made just one substitute appearance this season and his national coach says he is unfit because he is not playing.

For Tottenham to buy the 22-year-old highly-rated Egyptian we would have to sell a non-home grown player of our own, in addition to Benoit Assou-Ekotto. We have our full quota in the squad at the moment so can't just sell Lennon (home grown) and buy Salah (non-home grown), or a striker, it's not as simple as that.

You would have thought Paulinho, Soldado or Chiriches would be in the frame to leave, three players we bought a year ago and have flopped thus far.
