Performance Report

Younes put is a poor performance against West Ham United in the opening game where at times he looked lost, today he was better but worryingly is still making unforced errors that put us under pressure, fortunately as yet none have been punished but one today could have lead to an injury to Capoue, gladly it didn't.

A couple of things stood out for me, his choice of pass, for instance at one point in the second half under no pressure, opposition was 5 yards away he decided to switch the ball to Danny Rose with a high slow pass. QPR were immediately challenging for the ball, Rose played an easy header backwards but then Bentaleb I think it was had nowhere to go, nobody to pass it to and was under pressure. QPR got the ball but we won it back quickly. The point is it all stemmed from a wrong choice of pass from Kaboul that put us under pressure, his OPTA stats will show a successfully completed pass though.

The other was in the box and an attempt at a diving header where the ball was a yard off the floor. He simply headed it into the floor and the ball bounced dangerously up while he is out the game, fortunately Capoue was there to hook the ball away and get a whack in the process, it could easily have been a broken foot. Again the official OPTA stats don't show it as an error, but it is.

We are aiming for top four but he is no longer a top four defender at the moment. He had a reasonable game but if we are serious in our ambitions then hard decisions have to be made and selling him this week isn't going to weaken us. The centre-backs are vital at corners and Tottenham were caught our once again giving QPR free headers from within the 6 yard box that weren't punished.
