Spurs are going in the right direction
Dawson can head a ball but is a bit slow, Fazio can head a ball but is a bit slow, a like for like replacement.
Former Barcelona and Valencia midfielder Gaizka Mendieta who now works as a pundit on Revista de la Liga and live coverage of Spanish football on Sky Sports thinks Spurs are heading in the right direction now.
The 40 time capped former Spanish international midfielder Medieta know English football, he finished his career at Middlesbrough and won the League Cup with them. He played in the 2000 European Championships and the 2002 World Cup, he knows his football.
He was asked for his thoughts on Tottenham signing Federico Fazio from Sevilla by Sky Sports News he said:

So basically a taller, younger version of Michael Dawson. It was interesting to hear former centre-back Mauricio Pochettino say that Spurs were looking for central defenders with different qualities to compliment each other and so the right pairing can be used for the right opponents.
Ossie Ardiles talks to Pochettino and on Twitter he said his fellow Argentinian rates Fazio very highly.
The game is changing, no longer do you pick your best XI but you pick the best XI for the particular opponent but more than that Pochettino's words reveal that had Musacchio been bought, Dawson may not have been the defender leaving. Not being the greatest in the air but better on the floor, Musacchio would have been a replacement for Vlad Chiriches. Argentinian Federico Fazio is a replacement for Michael Dawson's aerial ability.
Transfers are not as simple as X is being bought as a replacement for Y as most fans see it. In other areas of the team yes, but in central defence things are a little more complicated than that. It's why we had deals in principle arranged for more than one centre-back.
At the moment we have 5 centre-backs plus Zeki Fryers learning the ropes, a side usually only needs 4 centre-backs so changes in that department may not be over yet.
