Bentaleb important part of Pochettino's plans

The World Cup players have stayed at home training except for Nabil Bentaleb, while Tom Carroll and Cristian Ceballos are with the Under 21 side.

Bentaleb important part of Pochettino's plans

That tells us that either Bentaleb is going to be an important part of Pochettino's plans and he wants him experiencing the system as soon as possible or that he wants to have a look at him to make up his mind. His comments suggest, as he has included him with Adebayor and Sandro, that he is a part of future plans.

“It’s a tough game and we expect to develop our style and philosophy. We expect a good game. Celtic are a very good team.
“It’s a different game because it’s away for both teams, but we expect a lot of supporters from Europe and we have here a Supporters Club so it’s important to play well in front of our fans.
“We are looking to continue to develop and it’s important that players like Emmanuel Adebayor, Sandro and Nabil Bentaleb are here with us, while the remaining World Cup players have also returned to training. We continue to work hard for the start of the season.”

Pochettino was brought in and part of the agenda that was outlined to him was the improvement of youth players, of which Bentaleb naturally fits the bill.

It is interesting to note that after a relatively poor loan spell at QPR and a North American tour where he was largely anonymous, 22-year-old Tom Carroll has been left behind with the U21 team taking on Dagenham & Redbridge this afternoon at 3pm.

That rather signals that he is not part of the new head coaches plans yet and that a loan is the most likely option for him, Harry Kane a year his junior is with the first team squad.

Also with the Under 21 side is 21-year-old Critian Ceballos, who while catching the eye is perhaps a season away from the first team squad on a regular basis. To bring him along I have no doubt he'll get appearances on the bench and substitute appearances in either the cups or Europa League.

There is also an Under 18 tournament continuing in Belgium today so as many players as possible are getting games into their legs.
