On this day in 1994 Spurs signed Jürgen Klinsmann from AS Monaco for £2 million. He scored on his debut with a header against Sheffield Wednesday and took the mickey out of himself by diving in celebration. A masterstroke of public relations. He went on to win the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year award.
Everton have signed 21-year-old Bosnia & Herzogovina international Muhammed Bešić from Ferencvaros on a 5-year contract. He can play full-back, centre-back or defensive midfield.
Skybet have suspended betting on Jay Rodriguez joining Tottenham, read into that what you will. He is recovering from an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury and expects to be fir in October. Both he and Morgan Schneiderlin want to rejoin Pochettino.
Talks continue behind the scenes to try to reach agreement over fees with personal terms having already been agreed in principle. Rodriguez is back in light training at the moment.
Southampton have joined West Ham, Hull City and Crystal Palace as interested parties of left-back Danny Rose, who is not happy Spurs have signed Ben Davies from Swansea.
