The highlight of this World Cup is the diving of course with former player Patrick Viera suggesting forcefully that players should cheat. Players like Arjen Robben who openly admitted it in the press have got away scott-free because FIFA do not want any 'stars' to miss games if at all possible.

David Bentley cried when retiring because he didn't want to despite saying he was out of love with the game. If that were right he wouldn't have cried. His story is a tragic one an attitude ruining a career. The FA should have Bentley talk to young players so they don't make the same mistakes he did.

If Arsenal have pulled out of signing Balotelli and go after Remy, then Spurs are left with Bony and who? With Lukaku expected now to go to Spain so Chelsea can have Costa, where do Spurs turn if Bony is too expensive?

Right let's get into the Tottenham News Shorts - Issue 17, recent news which concerns Diego Costa, James Rodríguez, Elaquim Mangala, Juan Cuadrado, Sami Khedira and Ángel di María.

Reports from Madrid based Spanish paper Marca suggest that the planned move of 25 year-old Diego Costa to Jose Mourinho's Chelsea looks set to go ahead, after they finalised a bid to match the Spanish strikers buyout clause of £32m. Being Brazilian, he was booed throughout his brief appearances at the World Cup where he flopped with Spain.

He highlights the farcical laws governing eligibility as he has simply had a holiday in Spain for 5 years to play football. A transfer and he'll be living somewhere else. Utterly absurd considering he played 2 friendlies for Brazil last year.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter warned in 2007:

"If we don't stop this farce, if we don't take care about the invaders from Brazil then, in the 2014 or 2018 World Cup, out of the 32 teams you will have 16 full of Brazilian players."

So why haven't you done anything about it then?

Arsenal were encouraged after his words to the press last October and would like to add him to their 'German influence.'

"There is a real German influence [at Arsenal] now, with Per Metersacker, Lukas Podolski, Mesut and also younger players coming through. They are the sort of players Arsenal need if they are to win trophies."

Di Maria's representative, Jorge Mendes, believes his client will go to Old Trafford rather than Arsenal or Chelsea.

Contract negotiations have broken down with Real Madrid believing the Argentinian is being too greedy. The fact that he gave the ball away 51 times before scoring the winner against against Switzerland rather demonstrates they may have a point.
