The Swiss international is 28 years-old and is believed to be available for £8 million. His contract runs out in 2015 which makes his price seem rather high for his ability. Newcastle United, Fiorentina and Borussia Dortmund are also all said to be interested in signing the former Parma player.

Džemaili who was signed by Sam Allardyce for Bolton Wanderers in 2007 saying:

"Džemaili is a fantastic player, who has played for the best team in Switzerland for the past three years. For someone so young, he has a wealth of experience. At the tender age of 20, he is the skipper of FC Zurich and is expected to become a regular international for Switzerland in the years ahead.
"He has hardly missed a game for FC Zurich since he started playing for them at the age of 17. I am excited by the prospect of working with Blerim next season."

However it didn't quite work out that way as he ruptured cruciate knee ligaments and was out for 6 months. His only appearance was as a sub in the FA Cup. He then went on loan to Torino and signed for them a year later. If he did come back to the Premier League then the language wouldn't be a problem as he is multilingual.

In 24 league appearances, 1550 minutes which equates to 17.22 games he scored 6 goals and had 4 assists. In all competitions he made 29 appearances, 1,881 minutes equating to 20.9 full games without further assists or goals.

He made 22 league appearances as a defensive midfielder and was a sub on 6 occasions. His strengths are his long shots which are powerful, passing, playing through balls and his concentration. He is a tackler who doesn't have any major weaknesses.

Džemaili is right footed and is average with his wrong foot, his attacking and defending work rates are only described as medium.

With Napoli after Sandro and Étienne Capoue in January it is no surprise the Italian press want to link us to replacements.
