Spurs duo get real jobs
Spurs duo Michael Dawson and Aaron Lennon look as if they are moonlighting with real jobs but in fact they were just visiting Tottenham University Technical College (UTC).
Mind you I'm sure they would have liked a little play on the machines, surely an action photo would have had more impact, they look like a couple of characters from CHiPS. For those to young to remember that was a US TV series that started in 1977 involving policemen on motorbikes.
The Tottenham captain and flying winger were having a guided tour of the new facility being built, which is currently recruiting Year 10 and Year 12 students.
The college will, in partnership with Middlesex University, specialise in technology and science for sport, health and engineering.
Dawson appreciates their role in the community and felt it was important during the international break, in which former Arsenal player and now TV pundit Lee Dixon felt he should have been playing for England, to inspire future generations.
He said: “I think the new college looks special. When I stand out there and see the glass front and I’m told what it’s going to be like inside - I think it’s definitely a place you would like to go to college.
“It’s going to be an unbelievable facility for 14 to 18 year olds looking to go into employment and it’s a credit to the football club and everyone who has worked on the development.
"We all know that sports people are role models and it’s important for us to come down and inspire the young people who are going to be going into employment – it can only be good for the community.”
Expected to be completed in August and opening in September Spurs will also be holding an open day at White Hart Lane to allow potential students to sample some of the activities and technology that will be available at the college.

Talking of new buildings, Michael Dawson hopes to still be with Tottenham when we start playing in the new stadium.
"I've seen pictures of the stadium and when it is up and ready to go it's going to be unbelievable.
"You've got the training centre which is one of the best around, if not the best, and certainly the stadium when it is up and running will be the same.
"I hope I get the chance to play there. I'm not too sure how many years it's going to be until it's up and running but hopefully I'll still be in the Tottenham kit."
The 30 year-old centre-back has not given up hope of achieving the pre-season aims.
"The top four is our aim. At the start of the season we set out our goals - to win a trophy, to be in the top four. We are still in with a great shout of doing that."
For the second season running Spurs have had to try and overcome problems in defence with injuries. Younes Kaboul has been injured virtually the whole time and summer signing Vlad Chiriches has so far shown himself not ready for top four football.
That has left Spurs with only Vertonghen and Dawson this season to rely on. Pairings in the heart of defence are crucial and the Englishman and the Belgian combine well together. They simply simply have not been at the back regularly enough to provide the side with a stable platform.
