Reported Tottenham Transfer Target Layvin Kerzawa

Newspapers like to come up with stories to sell their newspapers and they love to have an exclusive, thus they throw every name they can think of at a club and claim they were in the know and brought you the story.

It's a comical merry go round as a story just moves from one country to another and one paper to another, sometimes claiming a fake exclusive and others just not mentioning the source to 'pretend' they have found the news.

One paper will quote another paper who quote a third source showing some papers cam#t even be bothered with any of their own research. The same goes for the numerous number of regurgitation website who write everything from a newspaper as if it were fact.

A 1 minute look around Twitter this morning and 7 different Tottenham transfer stories leapt at me, so I decided to spend a further 1 minute looking at each one.

  • Liverpool, Tottenham and three more Premier League clubs are in a transfer chase for Norwich duo James Maddison and Josh Murphy (Source: Daily Mirror). - It is undoubtedly more than the 5 clubs, Norwich fans are joking that Crystal Palace and Burnley are not big enough and that Liverpool or Spurs are the more likely destination. Other reports say Leicester City are leading the race to sign a player rated at £30m, but then some say it's £40m, while Norwich City fans are asking if the 21-year-old (22 in November) has been found out by the opposition. Crystal Palace and Leicester City again are said to be chasing 23-year-old (24 next February) Josh Murphy, seemingly on the back of one goal. Numbers thrown at the story are again £30m.

  • Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa for €25 million this summer (Source RMC). Sports Witmess suggest Manchester United are 'prepared to welcome' the 25-year-old (26 in September) to Old Trafford, that's big of them. RMC report he is prioritizing a move to the Premier League. SFR Sport say Chelsea want to sign him. Radio Monte Carlo say a number of top Premier League clubs are chasing him they have learnt, yeah well so have I reading Twitter about it for a minute. Of course it took a Spurs Twitter account to suggest he 'apparently' would be a replacement for Danny Rose. As Rose is reportedly out injured until after the World Cup, perhaps he may well still be at Spurs next season.

  • Tottenham and West Ham want Barcelona's 24-year-old Portugal midfielder André Gomes. (Source: Daily Mirror). AS and Mundo Deportivo claim that the 24-year-old (25 in July) midfielder has told Barcelona he wants to leave and that he is a target of Manchester United. A Tweet suggests Barcelona have placed a £26m price tag on him, while a Daily Mirror journalist claims Gomes wants a move to Spurs. Other Tweets suggest he has denied he has asked to leave and said he is happy at Barcelona, no sources though. Reposrts suggest Barcelona have saved paying Valencia 10m Euros  after being knocked out of the Champions League again. Most Tweets are simply slagging him off, nobody who supports Barcelona seems to rate him at all.

  • Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Everton and Newcastle United are interested in signing Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand. (Source: Sun Sport). They claim he wants out at Southampton which will spark a £25m scramble for him. Presumably they have guessed teams who might, just might, be interested in him. Every Tweet seems to stem from The Sun story, which is an assumption anyway, an accurate one though probably. At 28 (29 in August) I would suggest he is too old for us to be interested in, given the demands we place on wing-backs.

  • Tottenham are being linked with West Ham left-back Arthur Masuaku (Source: The Sun). The 24-year-old (25 in November) is an alternative to Ryan Sessegnon apparently, although the same paper suggests Ryan Bertrand so it seems they are taking guesses as to who might replace the injured Danny Rose. Various other Tweets suggest he is valued at £20m and wanted by Chelsea and Monaco. A Tweet from a West Ham source suggests Masuaku will not be leaving the club in the summer.

  • Fulham will refuse to sell 17-year-old (18 in May) Tottenham target Ryan Sessegnon in the summer should they gain promotion to the Premier League. (Source: Evening Standard). The Sun suggest he is valued at £25m, I have seen £40m and £50m quoted. Further Tweets suggest Manchester United, Liverpool, PSG and Manchester City are all interested.

  • Tottenham and Inter Milan are keen on signing Manchester United forward Anthony Martial if he becomes available this summer. (Source: Daily Telegraph). Juventus are said to be tracking the 22-year-old (23 in December) Frenchman say the Independent. RMC report he is unhappy with his playing time, has rejected a new contract and his agent is looking at other options. It is quite usual for young talent not to get much playing time under Mourinho, he doesn't trust youth. The Times report contract talks have restarted but that Martial wants assurances about playing time.
