Spurs £28.5m bid for André Gomes

TRANSFER TALK

Premier League sides Tottenham, West Han United, Italian champions Juventus and Portuguese side Sporting CP are trying to sign André Gomes, the 24-year-old (25 next July) Barcelona midfielder who, it is thought, may struggle for game time this season with the glut of midfielders at the Spanish club.

West Ham are apparently pursuing a loan deal while Barcelona want a permanent deal for the Portuguese international. Spurs, it is believed, want a season-long  loan deal with an option to buy next summer.

However, I have read another report that suggests we have made a £28.5 million (€30.97m - AUS$46.61m - US$36.82m) bid.

The trouble with dealing with Barcelona is that they always insist on a buyback clause, which is of no use to Tottenham. We don't want to develop a player simply for him to be taken back by the club we bought him from with nothing we can do about it.

We are hoping deadline day pressure will mean they drop that insistence and make a deal possible.

Reports from El Prat Esports Spain suggest Barcelona have offered Monaco André Gomes plus £18.40 million (€20m - AUS$30.11m - US$23.78m) for Thomas Lemar.
