£38.25m Sanchez rejected Real Madrid and Chelsea to join Spurs

TRANSFER TALK

In Holland the Dutch press are reporting the transfer of 21-year-old (22 next June) Colombian international (he has 2 full international caps) centre-back Davinson Sanchez as bring a £36.69 million (€40m - AUS$59.33m - US$47.04m) plus £1.83 million (€2m - AUS$2.97m - US$2.35m) of add-ons deal. That apparently is the figures Ajax are giving the media.

Add the two together and you get £38.25 million  (€42m - AUS$62.3m - US$49.39m), not the £42 million reported in the British press. It looks as if they have once again lazily failed to convert from euros to pounds.

Davinson was being scouted by many of Europe's top teams while at Colombian side Atlético Nacional before his reported £4.59 million (€5m - AUS$7.42m - US$5.88m at today's rates) move to Ajax. Barcelona wanted to buy him but were going to play him in the B team wrote Dutch newspaper Teleport at the time. He decided on a move to Holland instead and now he has moved on to Spurs, assuming he passes a medical and gets his work permit.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported that Ajax wanted £45.86 million (€50m - AUS$74.17m - US$58.8m) for Sanchez but that Spurs refused to budge from the fee eventually paid, a fee Ajax initially rejected. He joins former Ajax trio Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen at the club.

The same newspaper (via Football Oranje) were reporting that Real Madrid and Chelsea wanted him but after speaking to Mauricio Pochettino he chose to join Tottenham and turned down a bumper new deal from Ajax.

Plenty of YouTube videos to choose from.
