Sporting want £26.24m, Spurs reported bid £17.49m

TRANSFER TALK

Portuguese paper Record report that Sporting are willing to let supposed Tottenham target Adrien Silva leave for less than his £39.36 million (€45m - AUS$66.56m - US$50.37m) release clause.

That is no surprise given the Portuguese international is a 28-year-old (29 next March). They claim we have made an offer of £17.49 million (€20m - AUS$29.58m - US$22.379m) and will accept a bid of £26.24 million (€30m - AUS$44.37m - US$33.58m).

If we have bid, and that is doubtful, I doubt we will be interested in matching the price they want for a player of his age. The Jornal de Noticas publication suggest Tottenham are going to increase the offer.

Is this Sporting using the the Portuguese press to try to create interest in their captain, given that they have already bought midfield reinforcements? It certainly wouldn't be the first time. The last word out of Spurs, there is little coming out of the club these days, was that we would be concentrating on younger players this window and not older players like Silva.
