Transfer Talk - Tottenham linked Mertens and Pinamonti.

TRANSFER TALK

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport are reporting that the Tottenham linked 30-year-old (31 next May) Belgian international (he has 57 caps, scoring 11 goals) Dries Mertens has agreed to a three-year contract with Napoli which includes a £25.79m  (€30m - AUS$45.05m - US$33.62m)

That will disappoint Manchester United who were after him and demonstrate once more to West ham fans the level of player they can sign with no European football. he isn't a player at the right end of the age scale for us and he doesn't have the Dani Alves type of medal haul to place him in the special bracket.

Another player Tottenham have been monitoring who has now signed a new contract, is 18-year-old (birthday yesterday) Inter Milan striker Andrea Pinamonti. In Italy players can not sign a professional contract until their 18th birthday and he signed his contract offer yesterday that extends his stay at the Italian club until 2021.

The new owners at AC Milan have begun the shakeup there and it looks as if they are going to follow our example and blood youth. After a meeting of the senior executives, they have dismissed Mauro Bianchessi, the man responsible for building and scouting for the Under-14's and have dismissed Antonella Costa, the man responsible for coordinating their youth operations.

With the Inter Milan sporting director admitting they haven't acted well at a senior level by not following a clear direction and that they need to appoint someone who can build the club like Mauricio Pochettino is doing at Tottenham, all is not well in Milan it seems. A club without direction is a club going nowhere.
