Malaysia, Sydney, Hong Kong tours

Spurs will visit Hong Kong to play Kitchee SC at the Hong Kong Stadium on Friday 26 May. Some have speculated that the players are unhappy about this, Pochettino believes just 1% are unhappy.

Last season we went to Malaysia to play a Malaysian League X! in Selangor at the Shah Alam Stadium on 27 May for the AIA Cup, a game we won 2-1thanks to two first-half goals from Harry Kane.

Spurs: Lloris (c) (Vorm, 45), Yedlin, Dier, Vertonghen (Bentaleb, 45), Rose (Walker-Peters, 45); Carroll (Onomah, 57), Stambouli, Townsend (Lamela, 45), Eriksen (Ward, 45), Winks; Kane (Chadli, 57). Substitutes (not used): McGee, Dembele, Mason.

We then moved on to the ANZ Stadium, Sydney, Australia to play AIA Cup game, this time against Sydney on 30 May in front of 71,549. We also won this game, this time 1-0 thanks to another goal from Harry Kane. This was the game Erik Lamela tried a long distance rabona that curled wide of the post.

Spurs: Lloris (c) (Vorm, 46); Yedlin, Stambouli, Vertonghen (Dier, 46), Bentaleb; Dembele (Walker-Peters, 46), Mason (Winks, 62); Lamela (Ward, 62), Eriksen (Chadli, 46), Townsend (Carroll, 62); Kane (Onomah, 84). Substitute (not used): McGee.

Thus a post-season trip and game of football is nothing new for the players, thus the story about them being unhappy about it appears wide of the mark and the typical incorrect guesswork of poor journalists.

"Look, two months ago, all of us spoke about the situation and we all agreed that if we did not get to the FA Cup final, we would need to help the club and go there and spend four or five day.
"The rumours in the media are wrong. Maybe 1% or one player is not happy, but the rest of the group is so, so, so happy to help the club."

We have Asian sponsors in AIA and it is part of our commitment to them that we help develop football in the region and playing there when we can does exactly that, as well as all the unseen coaching work we do in the region.
