Jean Michael Seri not for sale

TRANSFER TALK

As regular readers will know Jean Michael Seri has already publicly stated that he does not want to leave Nice this summer.

This has not stopped talkSPORT suggesting that the Ligue 1 club want around £34 million for him. The source, an unnamed report from the Ivory Coast, via the French press to the British press. All sounds highly dubious and a case of the truth being lost in Chinese whispers.

Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Marseille, Everton, Leicester City, Southampton, and Arsenal have all been linked with a move for him.

Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere has only this month told private French radio station RMC that Seri be at the club next season.

"Seri? Many clubs are interested. We do not want to sell him. We'll see him next year."
To add to that Jean Michael Seri himself has told media outlet Nice-Matin that he isn't interested in leaving Nice this summer.

"Leaving this summer? No. I've had a satisfying first season and now I need to confirm it. Wanting to leave when you've had a good season is not what top players do. You need to repeat it across several consecutive season.

"There's no reason for me to think about leaving. I'm good here, and I'm enjoying myself. To leave for the sake of leaving, it doesn't interest me. The club is growing, a new centre-forward is coming and there are still many beautiful things to experience here."

Seems to me that as the club and his agent are in negotiations over a new contract, names are being thrown at the story to scare the club into offering him more money than they want to.A standard wage negotiation tactic by agents. fear of loss to make a club feel their position is weak and that they may lose a valuable player.
