Bruma available for £12.82m

TRANSFER TALK

My eye ulcer has got worse and I now sit with a pillow case tied over my left eye to keep it in darkness, that eye not being able to stand much light at the moment, not even daylight. I'll keep my one eye on the ball and try to keep mistakes to a minimum.

In transfer talk today we turn our attention to Portuguese winger Bruma who was have certainly made enquiries for and if reports are correct, have previously made a bid for. Galatasaray naturally demanded a figure we were not prepared to pay, nor was anyone else, a normal negotiating tactic when they wish to keep a player and try to get them to sign a new contract.

Clubs with players who have 18 months of a contract left can either sell in January, when clubs don't want to buy players or try to convince a player over the next few months that his career is best served by remaining where he is. The Turkish side tried the latter and have failed. Bruma has steadfastly turned down every contract offer they have made and Galatasaray have now got the message it seems that he wants to leave.

Several reports say his preferred destination is the Premier League, some reports say he wants to join Manchester United, others that he wants to go to Spain, others that he has told Galatasaray that he wants to join Tottenham Hotspur. Believe which report you like, I can't tell you his agent, Cátio Baldé, has said his client wants to play in the Premier League and is confident of a club buying him. That has allowed him to take the stance he has.

His contract ends in June 2018 so entering the last year of his contract his transfer value sinks and various reports in Turkey now suggest Galatasaray want £12.82 million (€15m - AUS$21.12m - US$16.01m), which is what Spurs are reported to have previously offered.

If he does want to join us then no doubt we have been discussing a deal already with his representatives unofficially and now negotiations can begin on a realistic fee, as opposed to an opening negotiating fee stance.
