Well, the eyesight is getting slightly better, another week or so before my next hospital visit, still a blur trying to read everything, which strains my eye and doesn't do me any good, but hey, that's life, I have to live with it and get on with it.

The first thing I read this morning with the aid of my trusted magnifying glass is more craziness from the Daily Star. A piece written by Jamie Styles that shouts 'Chelsea could miss out on Premier League Star: Rivals ready to launch summer move.

You then start reading only to find that rival is Leicester City. Is the author being serious, for a player, for a fan, they are in different leagues. Chelsea competes in the top four and for trophies and Leicester City have had their 15 minutes of fame. They are back to mid-table and will be there again next season.

It seems to me that the top four are having their name thrown at the story to try and increase his transfer value. We are being constantly linked by reporters without a shred of evidence, they haven't revealed any games that we have sent a scout to see him. And as I pointed out, he isn't going to replace Eric Dier as he is left-footed so would play on the left, perhaps replacing Kevin Wimmer.

Would 24-year-old (25 nxt March) Ben Gibson want to spend his time as Jan Vertonghen's understudy?

I don't think so, he is used to playing every week and is likely to want to continue that. Chelsea and Everton have some ageing defenders who need replacing, they would be my favourites to sign the former England Under-21 international when Middlesbrough are relegated. When Middlesbrough do sell, it certainly won't be for £30 million (€35.35m - AUS$49.62m - US$37.52m) unless the buying club have been smoking some tobacco.

Transfermarkt value him at just £5.1 million (€6.01m - AUS$8.44m - US$6.38m). His real value is somewhere in between but that valuation gives a prime example of why clubs go abroad to buy players.
