Tielemans shows why Spurs are so keen

TRANSFER TALK

Tottenham have had trouble scoring from outside the box this season. Before Harry Kane scored against Stoke City we had scored just once all season from range.

That simply isn't good enough and we need to find a solution to that. Christian Eriksen no longer scores from free-kicks so two sources of goals have dried up and will need re-examining during the summer. It isn't a situation that can continue and is one of the adjustments it is important we make to alleviate some of the pressure on goalscorers Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

Jan Vertonghen ventured forward at the weekend and blasted way over with his efforts, Son Heung-min came on as a substitute and was put through, he blasted way over the bar too. We have plenty of shots but the return simply isn't there, we don't even make the keeper save enough.

We have been linked with many players and for some of the long range shooting is one of their skills. Think back to Gareth Bale and you see what can be done with practice.

One player we are continually linked to is young Belgian international Youri Tielemans, the Anderlecht captain at just 19 (20 in May). He has scored three fabulous goals from distance in a week, the video below shows two of them in just 129 seconds, just the sort of shooting prowess we need.
