Spurs still watching Lingard

TRANSFER TALK

The first slide in Britain, invented in 1922

The first slide in Britain was invented in 1922 and to prevent us sliding from the top table where we have established ourselves we need to improve the quality in depth of the squad. With Erik Lamela looking like he has played his last game for Spurs and Nacer Chadli's 10 goals not having been replaced, we have been scouting a variety of inverted winger options.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with 24-year-old (25 in December) Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard and the Daily Mirror suggest we are still watching him.

No doubt we still are, we don't stop watching a player simply because he is unavailable, you never know when a situation may change and signing them becomes a possibility. In that scenario you need to have done your homework on a player already. The more you watch, the more you learn and the more you see how they handle different situation, both with their skill and how they handle situations mentally.

The young English international, who has played just 677 minutes of Premier League football this season during which he has provided 2 assists, is also being watched by Chelsea and Arsenal. 677 minutes is roughly seven and a half full games.

Jose Mourinho is using him in the secondary competitions, the UEFA Europa League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield. Lingard is set to have further talks with United as he has not yet accepted the contract offer made to him. Mauricio Pochettino awaits the result of those talks ahead of the summer transfer window.
