Wijnaldum overpriced, plenty more fish in the sea

TRANSFER TALK

Back in May I wrote a piece about Tottenham potentially being interested in Newcastle United wide attacker Georginio Wijnaldum.
A move for Wijnaldum?

Four days later the national press were linking us with a move for Wijnaldum.
No surprise we are linked with Wijnaldum

in that article I pointed out that there was a claim that he has been made available for £11.44 million (€15m - US$16.76m - AUS$23.23m) which I remarked was obviously a reporters invention. That clearly was the case as this week we have seen website claiming Tottenham are after a new target, yes Georginio Wijnaldum again.

The latest journalistic creations suggest we are interested in the winger , which suddenly turned into a bid having been made, rejected and a revised figure published that nobody is going to pay. The player wants out, he doesn't want to be playing Championship football, it won't do his international career any good. The problem with the Dutchman is that he only performs at home, all his goals were in front of his own fans, he didn't net once away from home. He was also poor for half the season and while Newcastle might want to make a profit on him, he is now a Championship player, that doesn't raise his price.

If they force him to stay and they don't get straight back, then their finances will be under pressure and his career will be going backwards. Tottenham are reported to have made a bid, which sounds highly unlikely, an enquiry about price maybe, quite different from a bid. The price given is £25m (€29.3m - US$32.43m - AUS$43.14m) , a fantasy figure. Quite why The Express then suggest we should look at Moussa Sissoko as an alternative I don't know, he plays in a totally different position and is inconsistent himself, according to Newcastle United fans themselves.

he is too expensive at that price, plenty more fish in the sea like perhaps 22-year-old Sofiane Boufal.
