Spurs interest in Croatian winger Pjaca

TRANSFER TALK

Spurs interest in Croatian winger Pjaca

Tottenham have been reported to be interested in another Croatian youngster, this time 21-year-old (22 next May) winger Marco Pjaca.

Interesting Tottenham, AC Milan, Juventus, Inter, Napoli and Liverpool among others, the GNK Dinamo Zagreb right-footed left winger has 11 Croatian caps with 1 goal. He has a contract until 2019 and is sponsored by Nike. Even at his tender age he has won two Croatian titles and two Croatian Cups.

Recently Naopli were reported to have tabled a joint £29.08 million (€34m - AUS$50.22m - US$37.61m) bid for Pjaca and his 20-year-old international team-mate Marko Rog. They are two more from the conveyor belt of talent that comes our of Dinamo Zagreb, Mateo Kovacic, Luka Modric, Vedran Corluka, Dejan Lovren, Alen Halilovic, Milan Badelj and Sime Vrsaljko to name but a few.

Marco Pjaca has said previously that playing is more important than being at a big club.

"It is better for me to play in a smaller team than warming the bench in a bigger and more famous club.”

His agent confirmed Italian interest Naletilic told itasportpress.it after Galliani was spotted in Zagreb. AC Milan vice-president and CEO Adriano Galliani and Pjaca's agent, Marko Naletilic, are close friends.

"Milan are on Pjaca's trail, but there are other big clubs in Europe also interested in him. I have the Rossoneri close to my heart and I have had a splendid relationship with Galliani ever since 1986, since my father concluded several deals with Milan.
"Berlusconi's club have a slight advantage, but words get carried away by the wind and if Milan want to sign him they are going to have to show us the money, because Dinamo Zagreb are asking a lot for such a big player.
"Still, it's certain that Pjaca will go and play at a big club. He would make a difference in Serie A, given his courage, personality and technique. He's able to beat his man, even if he has a big physique and is 1.87 metres tall.
"Juve wanted him a while ago, but Dinamo didn't want to sell him."

We have tried before to buy youngsters from Croatia and generally they ant more thn we want to pay for them. The guide price Zagreb are looking for is £29.94-million (€35m - AUS$51.70m - US$38.72m) which looks a bit rich, Napoli obviously think so.

There won't be any serious interest from us at that price, given our transfer policy.

  1. Dont really feel hes what we need. We already have 2 top creative wingers and 2 top goalscoring wingers. If we are to get rid of Chadli because of a mistake from the bench against West Ham (which I think is a mistake in itself), then Vasquez looks like the best alternative die to our seeming will to play creative wingers over the goalscorers.
If our interest in Wijnaldum is genuine then I would say it is to compete with Dembele for the box to box role but I really feel the player to take us up a level is Ante Coric and we should pull out all the stops to get him. He is the 1 player that can take our best starting 11 up a level over the years to come and it would be a huge loss to see him go to City, West Ham, Liverpool, Barca etc. We could be in a perfect position to get him.
