Done Deal: Janssen arrives at 1045am

I broke the news last night that our summer transfer target to provide backup and competition to Harry Kane is one his way to Tottenham for a medical.

AZ Alkmaar have accepted a bid of £17.14-million (€20m - AUS$29.57m - US$22.11m) plus bonuses which will take the total amount should they all become payable to £18.87-million (€22m - AUS$32.51m - US$24.38m)

The Dutch striker will be undergoing his medical at Tottenham today. Dutch sports channel Fox Sports Intl report that Janssen is due to land at Heathrow at 10:45am this morning on flight BA429. VoetbalzoneNL, the biggest Dutch football website, broke the news last night of agreement between the two clubs last night and reported Janssen heasding to London, that has since been conformed by other outlets.

I, for one, am delighted we have captured him. he is a goalscorer, with either foot, 15 with his left and 10 with his right in the Eredevisie last season, where he went on a Harry Kane scoring run. It is refreshing to have a player so insistent he wants to come to Tottenham, turning down PSG, Wolfsburg, West Ham and Arsenal offers and interest among others. As a fan it is great to now such a strong desire is there and that it isn't about who is offering the highest wages.

He is the man Danny Blind has chosen to lead the Dutch attack and impressing in a substitute appearance and has now hit three goals in just five caps. In his final appearance for AZ Alkmaar, who had already lined up his replacement, he netted twice and was substituted at half-time.
