Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool had a scout at the Italian Cup Final to watch M'Baye Niang, the 21-year-old (22 in December) AC Milan player who has had an injury ravaged season.

The cup final took place on Saturday evening and it saw Juventus repeat last years double with a 1-0 victory after extra time over AC Milan. Niang, a player we have been linked with ad scouted before, played the last 35 minutes of the game.

Niang is a right-footed French centre-forward who can also play the wide attacker roles. He missed the first ten Serie A games with a Metatarsal fracture. In March, he then had a Malleolar injury and then missed the last three games thanks to a traffic accident where he injured his ankle.

Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi is set to sell a percentage of seven-time European champions AC Milan to a Chinese consortium, which is expected to be completed in the next month.

Until then they are in a bit of a transfer limbo. That means there may be the opportunity to bring players to the Premier League. He has a contract until 2019 and transfermarkt value him at £9 million (€11.64m - US$13.06m). He scored 8 goals and had 5 assists in 1,411 minutes of football (equivalent to 15.68 full games) played over 21 games.

A report by Gianluca Di Marzi says Spurs and Liverpool are both very interested with Liverpool already offering Italian international Mario Balotelli in exchange. Milan turned down that offer due to the different valuations of the two players he says. The Italians, he suggests, value Niang at around £9.27 million (€12m - US$13.46m). German sides Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund are also keen on acquiring his services.
